The Great Bible Swindle by CEO Greg Clarke won the Australian Christian Book of the Year 2014 award. He said...
“I am delighted and extremely honoured to receive this award. I do so on behalf of those who are labouring to ensure that the Bible has its proper place in our society. For believers, this means the front-and-centre of our faith, guiding our knowledge of God and his world. But for absolutely everyone living in a culture touched by Judaism and Christianity, it means being properly educated about the numerous ways in which the Bible has shaped our world.”
Bible Society helped City Tabernacle Baptist Church in Brisbane give 2,000 Bibles to G20 delegates as they arrived for the global summit in November. The church leaders said that it was “too good an opportunity” to pass up, and that they wanted to share the word of life with these global leaders.
The Bible Society website is a resource for Christians all around Australia. In 2014, the website had just under one million page views, people coming to us to hear about the work of the Bible in the world.
Some of the most popular stories featured on the Bible Society website were:
- Sower Autumn 2014
- 5 things you can do to help Iraq's persecuted Christians
- The Hillsong song that every Christian can sing
Bible Society launched a weekly newsletter offering subscribers Australian and global news from a Christian perspective. It serves to strengthen the tie between Eternity and Bible Society Australia, giving readers the week’s top Eternity stories while introducing them to Bible Society’s projects, prayers, events and campaign news. At years end there were around 2,000 subscribers.
Spreading the good news: Eternity, Australia’s largest Christian newspaper
In 2014, the 50th edition of Eternity was published and re-designed. The newspaper has been operating for five years now, three of those under BSA’s ownership. Bible Society Australia continues to seek to encourage Australian Christians through the newspaper by revealing what God is doing in this nation.
