2014 was a remarkable year for Bible Society Australia. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and the kindness of God, we enjoyed a record year of fundraising. This enabled us to meet pressing needs to support persecuted Christians in Iraq and Syria with aid packages including Scriptures. It meant that we were able to provide literacy courses for thousands of Pakistani women living in difficult circumstances. It meant we could continue to work on translating and providing indigenous Scriptures here in Australia. And it aided our ongoing Bible grant programmes for prisons, hospitals and schools. All of this work is made possible by our faithful supporters, who also sustain us in prayer and encouragement.
Bible Society Australia strives to champion the Bible both overseas and here at home. In order to do this, we pursue a wide range of activities: from translation, to publishing and distribution, to literacy and media engagement. Through the Centre for Public Christianity, we commend and defend the biblical faith to a sceptical world. Through publishing the Eternity newspaper, we aim to tell the good news of what God is doing by his Word in Australia and beyond. And increasingly, we are engaged in innovative experiments in digital Bible engagement in order to serve our precious children and youth. All of this work remains focused on increasing access to the word of God for a world that desperately needs it.
The Bible Society has now operated continuously in Australia for 198 years. Thank you for playing your part in getting the Word out.
