Bible-based school programmes
Our Bible-based school programmes enjoyed another successful year in 2013. Over 250 state schools were visited, with almost half being new schools. It is exciting that we are able to bring the message of the Bible to thousands of new children every year. Steph, 15, says having the Bible Society come to her school helped her connect with her non-Christian classmates.
“I think the talk you did was really great, one of my friends said that she never knew that Religious Education could be so fun and with music! Another one of my friends is going to go on a Christian camp, and I don't think she would go without you telling her about God.”
The Scripture in Schools grants continues to provide valued classroom Bibles across Australia. A total of $85,000 worth of Scriptures was made available for children to access in their approved schools religion programmes.
Dear Bible Society,
I wanted to send a note of thanks to you and all those who support the Bibles for Schools program. I have been teaching RI (Religious Education) classes in the state schools for over 18 years….. I used the 'Youth Bibles' as our text for scripture classes. Teaching them about Jesus and having them read about Him in their own Bible was very exciting. It also gave me the chance to teach them how to find verses and use a Bible for themselves. At the end of 2013 my students had the added gift of being able to have their Bibles autographed by our very own Australian Olympic and World Champion Swimmer Cate Campbell. Cate made a comment to me and said, ‘Wow, I have never autographed Bibles before - this is great.” ….. Thank you so much for the opportunity to teach students the Word of God with the very Words of God in their own hands.
Many Thanks,
Susan Wright

GodSpeaks Advocates programme
Our GodSpeak Advocates programme entered its second year, providing mission opportunities for young Christians. Four Advocates each committed to raise $10,000 for an international mission project, and then visit the project and promote it to churches.
